The laboratory specializes in preparing polycrystalline inorganic systems activated with lanthanide and transition metal ions based on the solid-state synthesis, Pichini method and classic sol-gel method. The materials obtained in the laboratory are used as phosphors, scintillators, dosimeters, etc.

Laboratory equipment:

  • The TA Instruments SDT Q600 Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA) & Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) provides simultaneous measurement of weight change (TGA) and true differential heat flow (DSC) on the same sample from ambient to 1500˚C.
  • The Nabertherm LHT 04-17 muffle furnace, equipped with an attachment enabling transformations in an inert atmosphere (N2, Ar) with a solenoid valve controlled by the furnace programmer (P310). Maximum operating temperature: 1750°C.
  • The Nabertherm RHTH 120/600/18 tube furnace, designed for processes in an inert (N2, Ar) and reducing atmosphere (5 vol.% H2 in N2). Maximum working temperature: 1750°C.
  • The Bruker D2PHASER powder diffractometer equipped with an X-ray tube with a copper anti-cathode (Cu Kα = 1.54 Å) and a LINXEYE® silicon strip detector. The maximum angular range (2θ) of the diffractometer operation ranges from 3 to 160 degrees. DIFRAC.EVA with the PDF4 2020 database is used as an evaluation software.
  • The Micromeritics ASAP 2020 surface and porosity analyzer allows determining the specific surface area of samples and the size of the pores based on the measurement of the nitrogen adsorption isotherm (BET).
  • The Hitachi TM1000 Tabletop Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with magnification 20~10,000x, accelerating Voltage 15kV and Hi Sensitivity Solid-State Backscattered Detector.
  • The  Moorfield Nanotech nanoPVD S10A – Benchtop Sputtering PVD. Turnkey system for high performance RF and DC magnetron sputtering for metals and insulating materials.
  • The Fritsch planetary ball mill  PULVERISETTE 7.
